The Festival’s planning committee met this past week and agreed that it is not feasible to host an event in 2017. However, they have made the commitment to start planning and fund raising now for the return of the Gandy Dancer Festival in August 2018.

The financial goal is to raise $20,000 to $25,000 depending on what decisions are made to reduce costs by changing the Festival’s traditional format of musical performances and family activities. The committee’s current chair has said, “Everyone agreed that we want the event to become self-sustaining and have the money in the bank before the 2018 event so we know it is paid for in advance.”

Gifts and pledges from the committee members have launched the new campaign with a fund of $5,000. And the promise of an additional $10,000 from the Festival’s generous benefactor has given the event a solid financial basis on which to continue planning for GDF 2018.

A fund raising event has been proposed for this coming August to be held at the Sugarland Barn located just west of the Village of Mazomanie. This will be a ticketed event with proceeds benefiting the Gandy Dancer Festival fund on deposit with the Mazomanie Charitable Alliance. Further information about this event will be shared in future messages through this web page and on our Facebook page.

Anyone wishing to help the cause by supporting the return of the Festival in 2018 can send their tax-deductible gift to the Mazomanie Charitable Alliance at PO Box 284, Mazomanie, WI 53560. All gifts will be acknowledged with a receipt showing the amount and purpose of the gift.
